Motability and teen

We have just received our PIP award for our teen, and I am looking into the possibility of a Motability vehicle as I have read that they can then start to learn to drive at 16 and are eligible for driving lessons.
Has anyone applied for the lessons for their young person and can tell me if it is straightforward and easy eligibility?

The criteria for the driving lesson grant changed recently. Now, in order to get a driving lesson grant, as well as meeting the other eligibility criteria, such as the means testing criteria, the person has to have passed their theory.

The process is straightforward if you are eligible. However, finding an instructor who has availability can take time.
