Anger after school

My DS 14 is currently on a waiting list for suspected ASD.

He has always struggled with school – not academically but throughout the day various things annoy/frustrate him. He keeps his frustration hidden at school and buries it inside so by 3pm he is often on a knife-edge.

It seems really bad at the moment – probably exacerbated from tiredness and the relentlessness of it.

Every day I collect him he is very angry, the sheer amount of rage inside means that I just about get him home and he unleashes it – stomping and pounding his mattress. We live in a flat and the neighbours have even got in touch about the noise of it. Fortunately it doesn’t last long but every day I dread pick up time.

I’ve spoken to him about the things that annoy him and I can't see how they can be resolved without him moving school. I am reluctant to do this at this point as he only has a year left.

Just wanted to vent really.

What support is the school providing? Does DD have an EHCP?

The school are unaware of the extent he is getting annoyed because he doesn't want to show it in school. I just think the school setting is so chaotic and crowded (it's a big school) and some of the kids do things that wind him up (it's not as bad as bullying but he just doesn't want to be anywhere near them).

I think if it continues like this, I will speak to the school.

Don’t wait. I would speak to the school now.
