On CAMHS waiting list for adhd assessment, can we use Right to Choose?

DS13 has had the initial triage from CAMHS for an adhd assessment; he has now been placed on a waiting list for the actual assessment which is apparently 1-2 years....
My neighbour who works for CAMHS told me to do Right to Choose, but I have seen on here that once CAMHS have started a process then right to choose is no longer an option. I can't see this written anywhere formally though.
Does anyone know?

You would need to speak to the GP to ask if they will refer you. Some GPs are reluctant because the NHS Choice Framework, under “choosing where to go for your first outpatient appointment” says the right exists at the point of referral to the provider and some interpret that as meaning at the point of referral for a first appointment and not if someone has already had a referral/appointment.

Thank you, just need to do the 8am dash to try and get a gp appointment!
