Teen won't use public toilets

Hi there my 14 year old girl is on waiting list for an autism assessment she will not use toilet at school so holds it in all day and advice please is this normal?

My DS is the same and diagnosed with ASD.

Ahh really so could be it's a shame and she holds it in till she gets home and that's a good 20 minutes walk to and from home

DS 13 is the exact same. Won’t/cannot wee or poo at school or in public bathrooms

Glad I'm not in the same boat then is your child diagnosed? By any chance if u don't mind me asking she has major sensory issues too.

He is yeah, diagnosed at 9 with autism, I think for my son it’s more issues regarding privacy, what is the issue for your daughter?

Ahh okay yes she is the same also no friends either not one as she finds it hard too

Some find using the disabled toilets helps.

She won't even use them as she panics she will get locked in as she told me she got locked in one last time

Some schools occasionally allow pupils to use the staff toilet when none of the other toilets meet their needs. If the school agree to it, would DD do that?

Not to sure to be fair she has toilet passes etc she wouldn't anyways unfortunately
