Hi, I have received PIP form for my ds with severe ASD. Tbh he hasn't seen a health care specialist for years as he has EHCP. Is this enough to apply or do I need a letter from GP as stated on the form? Grateful for any advice, thanks

You don’t need to get a GP letter just for PIP. Send the EHCP and any older evidence you have that you think is still relevant/will help.

I have filled in PIP form for my son. He has ASD no EHCP very high functioning very social and very confident HOWEVER all this is if in routine and following a schedule - if anything goes wrong or out of schedule then he can't cope - he will kick scream swear and shout which makes using public transport on his own very tricky. He has no medical professionals working with him now bur got a ASD diagnosis at 8 but no EHCP. He has lots and lots of quirks and things he does to regulate him self that make him very different and could çompromise his health. He is 16 but actually in some respects very very mature - he could have an extremely grown up conversation on the phone with a DWP person with absolutely no problem at all , he could talk to a bank manager about finance - no issue with talking to adults but he can't hold a conversation or go for a day out with teenage friends as he gets scared and worried because he thinks they are dangerous and fearless. So to someone analysing him for PIP he comes across as a very very mature NT person but his anxieties are much more deep and hidden - I have put all this on the form but if he actually has to have a meeting there is no way they would have any idea that he has any SEN needs at all.

So I have no evidence from any health care professional so have just talked about his quirks and difficulties on the form

@jazzyfazzy766 if you are appointee you can speak on DS’s behalf.

Send any evidence you have. For example, evidence from school. Also include the diagnosis report even though it is old.

It also sounds like DS does need more support so it is worth speaking to your GP.
