Does anyone have any lived experience of a very special relationship between a son and a grandparents. My son is 18 has the closest relationship with his grandma. However she is poorly with cancer , copd, ameloydisis and other issues. She is currently in hospital with covid which has nearly finished her off.

My son is CONSTANTLY asking when she'll be home etc etc. His world has turned upside down. We have social stories but he won't look at them. Anyone gone through the loss of a beloved person?

Does he understand how very poorly she's been @raspberrytart? It's difficult to know from your post his level of understanding.

When my DF was very ill I had to sit mine down and explain that he wasn't coming home but we would do our very best to look after him whilst we still had him.

Sorry for late reply. Hus understanding is good but he doesn't like to hear them. We are in limbo as we don't know how long and she is still isolating.
I'm looking into face to face bereavement counselling and child bereavement uk have been helpful with resources. I just need the time to sit and think!!
