What support is DC getting? Do they have input from any HCP? EHCP? Social care (and you a carer’s assessment)? Do they take any medication? Have they had a home OT assessment to help make the home safer and better meet their needs?

Has a detailed diary been tried to spot triggers?

They have 3 specific, severe triggers.

OT input, in specialist school with EHCP. Carers assessment (Chad team) was refused .
close to losing school placement which would devastate them

You need an early review of the EHCP. It needs amending to provide more support and therapies.

Request social care assessments. A carer’s assessment for you and an assessment via the children with disabilities team for DC. Contact have model letters you can use. Complain if refused.

Are the triggers avoidable? Or able to be minimised? Or predicted?

Alongside this you should request a referral to CAMHS with a view to pushing to see a psychiatrist.

Thanks so much.

Three specific triggers which can’t always be predicted and are frequent out and about.

they’re on 20mg fluoxetine. We have therapy (previously private) and some provided by Camhs.

You should request a meds review.

When out and about with school what support ratio do they have?

Blossom4538 · 15/03/2024 21:52

Thanks,
2-1 when out at school and at least 2-1 outside of school, with family. It’s not easy though.

We had a meds review and they are not willing to offer anything else. dc was on a lower dosage and had increase just over a year ago.

If the current service won’t or can’t offer anything further I would request a referral to a more specialist team.

How is the fluoxetine working? We found this actually had a negative effect on our ds and raised his anxiety levels and made him more manic.
