Hoping for some help and unsure how best to go about this.

Strongly suspect that yr10 DS has ASD/ADD as he is struggling more and more at school.

GP will refer him but wasn’t sure on Right to Choose pathway. GP was also against private assessments as said these will always give a diagnosis even when they shouldn’t.

The school have previously been unwilling to support an assessment but are now suggesting it may be the right thing to do.

Any help, guidance, recommendations would be much appreciated

Plenty of really excellent private clinics out there whose diagnoses are accepted by CAMHS. If they are done by qualified professionals who follow the guidance then no reason for them to be doubted.

I’m aware of https://www.starjumpz.com/ in the area you’re looking at. Suggest you look at local Facebook groups for other recommendations.

Still waiting lists for private clinics sadly but they go quickly in my experience.

Good luck!

We used Orchard Psychology in Petersfield. They diagnosed DD13 with ASD and they were very firm in telling us they would not get diagnosed just because we are paying! Would recommend. There is a waiting list but worth getting on.
