What happens to EHC plan if they drop out of education...

Ds left college then did some training with another company who were absolutely useless and didn't support him. He dropped out and managed to get a job in a fast food chain. Lots has gone on since and he has suffered with his mental health which meant he then lost his job. I now feel limbo as he can't seem to get another job and his mental health is deteriorating. He has managed to sign on but we haven't claimed any extra support. He did talk about going to college again but obvious he doesn't have a EHC anymore which would have opened up more options.

If DS’s EHCP was ceased but he needs that type of support again you/he will have to request an EHCNA.

If DS is unable to work has he (or you as appointee) claimed New Style ESA if eligible or submitted a fit note to UC to trigger the work capability assessment process?

Thank you I will look into it! He probably could work with the right support, he doesn't have physical but a learning disability which is also triggering his mental health. Not sure if this is also causing other issues now he has left education and has no routine or whether it's uncovering other conditions such as ADHD. It's so, so sad to see him decline and struggle with the transition to adulthood.

Ps we don't claim any disability or extra support never have but I am worried he is being pushed into work when he isn't ready because the support isn't there.

DS or someone as his appointee should apply for PIP. You should also apply for New Style ESA (if eligible) &/or UC.
