Hi everyone, I’m not sure if someone will know this, but I am very much in need of a lawyer, who knows the ins and outs of trust, and can maybe be a power of attorney and help right now. My mother helped me to buy a property in Greece, which is where I had felt comfortable living. She wanted me to be settled, it has been an up-and-down year to say the least. Anyway, in late December, I received a letter from Barclays Bank, telling me they were going to suck my account on 2 January, because my property is in Greece and I’m no longer living in the UK. The problem is, all of my trust fund is on this account, it’s a substantial amount of money, and I don’t know how to transfer it to Greece. I don’t do online banking or even telephone banking, and I’m lost here. In Greece, I have a power of attorney For financial issues, but I don’t have anyone to help in the UK, or even to do things like go to the bank with me. I’m in the UK right now trying to sort this, but I need to either have help to transfer all of my money to Greece, or to find somewhere safe to keep it in the UK, loads of banks, have been closing accounts of people who live abroad. Headache to say the least.

Are the trustees not dealing with where the money is held?

Or do you mean money that was in a child trust fund?

Keep going, I don’t actually know, money is put in the account for me yearly, I know that, but I really need help. I did ask someone I know in London, who has a daughter with a disability, and will meet with her this week. I don’t like complicated situation’s and this is really complicated for me

Can your mum help you understand what type of account and money it is? Once you know that it will be easier for others to help you understand what needs doing and direct you to someone who can help.

keep going, it’s really tough, my mom is 78 and I don’t think she’s thinking right these days. She’s had a lot of health problems this year, and she’s been suggesting things that just don’t make any sense. I lived through two very bad floods in September, our building was damaged, and my mom said because I have the money, just to pay for the entire repairs on the building, when there are 13 residents who live in the building. I’m struggling with my money issues, but my mom, I think has her own issues and is not really helping the way she should. I’m trying to think if there’s anyone else I could ask who would know.
