Best way to apply for PIP-ADHD

DS who was diagnosed earlier this year has come home from Uni saying that he is thinking of applying for PIP.

What's the best way to apply? I've heard if you fill in the application yourself it can be refused on the grounds that you're independent enough to fill in the form.

If DS can manage his claim himself then the claim needs to be in his name. If he can’t mange himself then someone can request to become appointee. People without appointees can receive PIP. Either way he/you can have support to complete the form.

Thanks Keep. He does ok. Is in his first year at Uni so don't think he needs an appointee. Just wondered if there are any services to help or guides available.

Attending university doesn’t necessarily mean DS doesn’t need an appointee.

For completing the form, have a look at the benefits and work website. Also, this guide (not my LA, but the best LA guide I know). There are some organisations who help complete the form e.g. CAB, but the quality varies.
