Dyspraxia support in school

My 15 year old has dyspraxia/DCD.

It mainly affects his handwriting & he's beginning to struggle in class tests as he cannot read his own notes for revision in maths & physics. And the teachers can't read his writing/equations/diagrams either so he is scored lower.

The school don't seem to know how to support him & unfortunately the support for learning teacher seems to be off sick. He does get extra time for exams.

We are in Scotland so the system is a bit different.

Please could anyone suggest anything the school could do to support him?

I had thought about a scribe, but any ideas would be welcome.

After several years of trying to explain that DDs handwriting was so bad she couldn't read it back to herself, finally she was allowed to use a word processor in classes.
Some of the processes introduced for remote learning were good for DD too, like homework being sent via Teams for example. It meant she didn't have to try and decipher what she'd tried to write down in a rush at the end of lesson.
Hope you manage to get support in place.

Request DS is allowed to use a laptop and assistive technology. Many find a laptop or speech to text software easier than a scribe.

DS is 22 now, but school (in Scotland) assessed his ability to type and he was then allowed to use a laptop in class (he wouldn't) and was able to sit his exams using a computer in a separate room (he did).

His teachers didn't even know which way up to hold the paper to try to read his handwritten work.
