Transfer from DLA to PIP

DD turned 16 in September and I have just completed a PIP form for her. I am her appointee but I was wondering if anyone has any idea whether it is likely that they will want to interview her.

She would not come across well in an interview and if asked anything would probably just say she was fine. She struggles to understand anything other than simple questions and would definitely not cope with a telephone interview.

DD has LD and is also currently being assessed for ASD. She also has a neurological condition which means that she is much younger mentally and emotionally than 16.

Just wondering if it is usual for children who have previously been in receipt of DLA to be interviewed or if anyone has had any experience of this.

@feellikeanalien Hi , how long later did you find out if it was successful, are the rates same as DLA,
hoping they don’t need to speak to her as she is struggling and finding everything hard to cope with and won’t speak to anyone.

They phoned me in December and we got the first payment through about five or six weeks later. The woman I spoke to did tell me over the phone that DD would definitely get it but I'm not sure if that's usual. She couldn't tell me the amount at that time. The amounts are the same except that there are only two rates of the care component so the lowest daily rate of care paid is £72.65

Although DD had been on lower rate mobility and the middle daily living rate on DLA she has now got the higher rates for both mobility and daily living. We did have tons of supporting evidence though.

Good luck.

Hi
Did you speak on DD behalf when they phoned or did they need speak to DD , as DD won’t speak or talk to any one as can’t cope with any of it .

feellikeanalien · 21/01/2025 10:07

I spoke to them and they didn't ask to speak to DD

@feellikeanalien
Hi
when they phoned you to do the phone assessment did you have to prove your DD was there with you , when they said they were doing phone assessment they said DD would have to be there even though she will be home as can’t cope with going to school DD probably still sleeping , and even if I woke her she wouldn’t talk to them, it’s first time for this so have no clue of there procedure.
thank you
