At last we have a diagnosis, although it is from a woman on the train...

Some of you will know what we've struggled for years to even get DD referred and now we're going through the long process of trying to get a diagnosis.

Well would you believe she's been told that "she doesn't look like she has Autism" and she probably doesn't have it. If only DD had met this Woman on the train earlier we needn't have bothered waiting for the appointment with a Paed!

Seriously though, what adults get into an argument with a 16 yo girl on a train then tells them that they don't have ASD?

If only looking at someone was enough. We could do away with the assessments and long waiting lists. It would be so much easier!

Exactly.

DD was talking to her DFriend about starting College. This Wonan butted in to ask if they gave you vaccines in College and told DD not to have them as Vaccines give you ASD 🤦‍♀️

DD really stood up for herself and explained that it's a neurological condition that you're born with. The Woman disagreed and said she'd read articles and it's definitely the Vaccines.

DD asked her where she'd read the articles abs she wouldn't say.

DD then says that actually she's Autistic and the Woman says gets flustered and says "you don't look Autistic" and "you wouldn't be going to Manchester on the train of you were Autistic".

The worrying thing is that this Woman says her DS has ASD. Lord help him having such an ignoramus for a DM.
