PIP, UC, WORKING..

Dd is 20, currently receives PIP (enhanced for both), UC plus LCWRA element, is studying Open University online. She has just accepted a job working 16 hours per week, will get just over £700 per month. After talking elsewhere, I’m led to believe she can earn £691 without it affecting her UC due to the disability element, would 55p per £1 be taken off her UC over and above that earnings limit? Will she not lose her whole award?
I’m very worried about it as it’s going to be very short term work due to her personal circumstances, but also, if she loses her UC now, I’m assuming she can’t reclaim it again due to the rule change that came into force back in 2021 re education.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

55p in every £ over £631 (the work allowance assuming DD doesn’t have a housing element) will be deducted. With earnings of £700 that won’t wipe out the whole award. As LCWRA was established prior to beginning the full time education course, if the UC claim ended and DD needed to reclaim again soon she would be able to.

Ah thank you! The job is only for 6 weeks as dd is undergoing a major operation then. So in future, if she ever lost her UC, stayed in full time further education, she could get UC back due to previously having LCWRA?

Yes, if it is a relatively short period between claims.
