My 17 year old son has ADHD /ASD , he finished high school GCSEs last year . He got a couple of levels 4s in English , history and ICT. Maths has always been a big issues, he GCSE grade was level 1. He has been doing performing arts level 2 at college along with functional skills level 1 maths. He has been doing really in performing arts and is moving to level 3 in September . We have received his results from functional skills today, he has sadly failed . I will be calling the college tomorrow to discuss the options . I had been thinking about doing the maths level one course online /distance so we can help him more , the exam is online too so would lessen his stress and anxiety . I wondered whether anyone else has been through this , , what helped ? He doesn't have a EHCP plan

You can download for free past papers for the functional skills. ds2's issue was English rather than maths but we did this to give him additional practice to supplement what he was doing at college. It would also help you see which of the topics he is struggling with so you can help him with these. Even at this late stage it might be worth applying for an EHCP so that he gets more support.
