How to help autistic son with his broken heart

Namechanged for this.

My 16 year old was let down by his new boyfriend about three weeks ago. It wasn't a long relationship but he is devastated. I am finding it really hard to support him as all he says is that he doesn't want any sympathy.

Any advice? I've got ADHD but am not autistic so I don't really relate to this, I process things by talking about them. I'm worried he's got really stuck and there is no structure to his life at all now that he has finished his GCSEs.

Really grateful for any advice from autistic adults in particular

How is he now @Autisticteenheartbreak?

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto ah, kind of you to ask! I think he is mildly better. I guess it is something that everyone goes through, I just find it so hard cos my other kids talk to me about stuff and I feel that I can support them a little. I worry cos I have no idea really what is going on in his head. But I do think he is feeling a little better

My DD is autistic and the same age, I know what you mean about structure and not knowing what's going on in their heads. DD definitely doesn't open up to me much either.

Glad he's feeling a little better Flowers
