Forgive me: I need to share a small but happy thing and most people won't get it.
DS is mid 20s. Living at home, ASD (what used to be described as Aspie), so clever and eloquent about things he's interested in but otherwise very quiet and finds social interaction exhausting and is mostly alone and indoors.
He works from home in IT but really only has a couple of 'real life' friends and rarely leaves the house.
We are on holiday at the coast. DS has loved crabbing since he was small. Today DH and I left him on the quayside with his kit for a couple of hours to go off and visit a local attraction.
We drove past him after about 40 minutes and he was on his knees showing some children ( with their parents) the crabs he'd caught. When we returned later he was alone but pulling in a net of crabs and actually doing a little jig on the spot with a massive grin on his face. He is so serious and intense about everything: to just see him dancing with joy and grinning was so lovely: a real unguarded moment.
It's made my holiday. I just wanted to share.
