ADHD coaching for teenage girl (also autistic)

My 14 year old DD has just been diagnosed with ADHD (inattentive subtype) and ASD. Has anyone any experience of their own teenager having ADHD coaching and could tell me how it helped?

My DD is extremely disorganised, has poor concept of time so is always late or leaves things to the last minute, plus many other difficulties. I'm hopefull that coaching will help her with some of these skills and at the very least make her realise that she has to put some effort in to making adjustments for herself. She has GCSE s next year so I also hope they might help with revision skills.

I don't know how or if ASD could complicate things here so if you have any experience with that side of things as well that would be really valuable information. Thanks.

My DS has just been diagnosed with mainly inattentive ADHD and they did suggest some coaching. So I’m blatantly placemarking OP, sorry.

Has she decided to try the medication and is it helping?

Hi @SiouxsieSiouxStiletto hopefully we get some replies soon about the coaching!

She has not started medication yet, we are going to be having an appointment soon to discuss which would be best for her: ADHD meds or anxiety meds (from the autism angle). Personally I think trying the ADHD meds would be better at first. Is your DS going to start meds? How old is he?

He's not tried them yet. He's 18 so there was a bit of miscommunication where I thought he was happy to have them, was offered and bloody declined.

It's a work in progress Flowers
