Carer's allowance

My English is not perfect, but I hope I chose the right topic to my subject and everyone understands my question.

I'm a carer for my child with Autism and I currently receive carer's allowance. My child is coming up to 16yo in a few months. I have recently received a letter from DWP, suggested to fill out the form and return it if I want to continue receiving DLA while the period of my child's PIP decision is being made once my child become 16yo. So I did what I've been told on the letter.

The thing I'd like to know is about carer's allowance. I am wondering if I' required to let DWP know that I am no longer entitle to carer's allowance and cancel it once my child became 16 years old, and I have to apply again once my child granted PIP. Or I don't need to do anything until my child's pip decision is being made.

Thank you for your help.

As long as DC or you on their behalf as appointee apply for PIP when DC turns 16 DLA will continue to be paid until a decision about PIP is made. Therefore you will continue to be entitled to carer’s allowance (assuming you continue to meet the other eligibility criteria) whilst a PIP decision is made.

@FloatingBean Thank you for your message. It sounds more straightforward than I thought.
