My son 23 is going through the process of getting a diagnosis for asd. It has only become very apparent as he became an adult that there was something underlying . I’m trying my best to understand him and how to support him. He struggles to work and sleeps in late , hardly washes spends lots of time in his computer and barely ventures out of his room. I’m aware he needs some structure and routine and I’m struggling at overstepping the boundaries because he has the capacity to make decisions for himself even if their not in his best interest. I don’t really know where to go for any advice or support . If anyone could give me any pointers I would be mail grateful

Didn't want to read and run. ☕and a big hug. It is overwhelming when you have a child that needs help but you don't know what to do. I am in the process myself of trying to discover whether my very anxious daughter is ASD or something else. I go from one minute thinking she definitely is to the next thinking I don't think that is the issue! I am hoping someone will come along and give you some proper advice.

It's really difficult isn't it @Suffolkmum81?

My DS is currently going through an assessment for ADHD.

I tend to, if I think DS is receptive, talk about what they're struggling with right now and what works for me but stews that I know it doesn't work for everyone, we all need to find things that work from us.

It's taking a while but he's recently started doing some guided meditation and infrequent running and both seem to helping him to regulate himself a bit better.
