ADHD, Teen girls and friendships

I have a 14yoDD, diagnosed with ADHD in Y7 and on concerta XL. She was diagnosed with the inattentive variety and the meds have really helped her with schoolwork and focus.

Where they don't help is in friendships. DD is seemingly on a constant hunt for dopamine. And she doesn't seem to understand that friendships are built in the minutiae of life - she needs drama and parties and action. Sitting on the phone talking to a friend for hours is her worst nightmare - she doesn't do chat or listening and it would mean she can't move.

She moves friend groups constantly looking for something she won't find. And the other girls have started to notice this 'flightiness' and comment on it. She'll meet someone shiny and new and they are instantly her friend for a time until she gets bored or they want something deeper.

I worry for her self-esteem going forwards and I worry about how this will play out with a boyfriend in the future.

Anybody been through/ going through this? Any advice or observations welcome.

Thank you

My DD did the same but meds helped. We had to talk to her about sticking to same group. I think it's easier if they do lots clubs. Then they find people with same interests.

Is DD receiving any support at school? Has she had SALT and OT input? This can all help with social skills, and OT could look at sensory regulation which from your post would help.

Hi, which medication is she on please? My 11 year old seems to have lost her social sparkle since starting elvanse. She needs it for concerts but friends are dropping away.... god it's hard 😥
