Hi all and thanks in advance for any advice given and sorry for the long post.
Yr 11 EHCP review tomorrow and have been given the heads up that it may be likely the county will refuse to maintain the EHCP as my daughter is academically managing.
Background my daughter is diagnosed with Autism/ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder, she has had a statement/EHCP in place since she was 3 and this has carried her through mainstream primary and secondary.
She is very routine and rule conforming so is not disruptive and is very adult led.
she manages school but is constantly running a a high anxiety level and has to be talked through a lot of life to reassure and give contingency plans to most things so she is prepared.
Her struggles are internalised and she is vulnerable in the wider world.
I am extremely concerned about her transitioning to a further education setting without the safety net of the EHCP in place.
We had identified a college as her chosen next step but it is 13 miles away and obviously a lot less rigid than a school but I feel very strongly that if this transition isn’t handled very carefully I will end up with no options for her post 16 as she will refuse to attend any other options as she is now solely focused on this one course.
Any help on how to vocalise how very important it is to keep the EHCP in place for this very challenging time for a child with such difficulties.
Its so much more than struggling a academically.
