Car tax -PIP

DS has just been awarded enhanced PIP. We aren't looking to get a motability Car. My husband owns a car and uses it for food shopping, taking DS to his activities and general errands. I don't drive. Can my husband claim some free tax, as his car is used to take DS wherever he needs to go

If your DS gets enhanced PIP for mobility ( and not just care) he should receive a certificate for zero road tax which can be used on a car used for your sons benefit. At least that’s how it worked for our son a few years ago. I think the certificate arrived with the paperwork giving the result of the PIP application.

Forgot to say- the down side is that the certificate has to be taken to the main post office ( not on line) to renew the road tax, when renewal is due.
