My 17 D has recently been diagnosed with ASD after many difficulties however while it is great we now know it doesn’t help us to help her or to help herself it seems she is stuck as is not ‘autistic enough’ sorry I don’t mean to be offensive I just don’t know how to word it, but equallly she struggled so much more than an average person and is finding life a massive challenge is there any resources or therapist or therapies anyone can recommend . I don’t mind going private however everyone we have looked at even private has a min of 9 month waiting list

thank you in advance and sorry if I have phrased things wrong I know very little about autism

What specific things is DD struggling with?

OT and SALT are likely to help.

Sadly even privately there is a long waits at the moment. The system can’t cope.

If you live in England or Wales Scope offer mentoring to parents of recently diagnosed DC.

OT is occupational therapy. It can help with sensory differences, social difficulties, self regulation. SALT is speech and language therapy. People often think this is just about the physical ability to speak but it’s actually about far more than this and those with ASD benefit from SALT input.

Have you looked at what social groups are available locally? Are there any groups aimed at autistic teens?
