Does anyone know if paper based assessments are usually successful? I rang yesterday and was told it's with a decision maker, so could be in for a long wait. This is for 16 year old who is moving from DLA

@Ilovellamasandpenguins what a relief your form was found!

It is a good idea to photocopy the form before sending in case it is lost, not a rare situation sadly.

Finally a decision. Enhanced for both parts. I was only expecting standard. He got 26 points for daily living and 12 for moving around.
.It is only for 2 years though but I'm not anticipating a change in his condition.

Good to hear your news @vickibee

hi my partner has just applied for pip and has received a message saying they have completed his written assessment and he will find out a decision soon I never even knew they did paper based. He does have life long care at hospital for regular checkups as he has neuroendocrine cancer. But the wait with finding out is horrible

Runnerduck34 · 22/08/2023 10:01

Just heard back and DD has been awarded PIP😊
Has both enhanced living and enhanced mobility until 2029 which im very pleased and slightly surprised about as you hear such horror stories. Process took 3-4 months in total and she had a paper based assessment- submitted lots of supporting evidence ASC report, letter from camhs, SALT and OT reports.
A bit annoyed PIP doesnt appear to be backdated when transferring from DLA, pip is more money.
I thought pip was backdated to the date claim form was submitted.
Did you get any backdated money @vickibee?

Good luck@kirlou85, my DD had a paper based assessment , they do paper based assessments if there is sufficient evidence/ reports to support a claim.

vickibee · 22/08/2023 14:33

@Runnerduck34 no. Yr pip award starts 4 was after dla ends so there is one more dka payment. Our award is only for 2 years though so I was a bt disappointed abt the length of it

Runnerduck34 · 22/08/2023 15:02

@vickibee thx for confirming- realised my post may have sounded grabby but ive read in lots of places that pip is backdated to when you submit your claim so was surprised this want true when transferring from dla- clearly expected any dla paid to be subtracted from pip back payment but thought youd get the difference.
Just pleased its all over, length of award is a bit random DDs is for 5 years and 9 months??!
Sorry yours wasnt for longer. Although pleased, perveresly i had a moment when i thought so are they saying statistically shes unlikely to improve in 5 years!! I know she will always be autistic but Im hoping anxiety and depression will recede and she will be able to cope with life again....
Anyway thanks everyone for the updates , info and handhold

ThomasWasTortured · 22/08/2023 15:06

It is only backdated when it is a new application, not when transferring from DLA. There is case law on this, you can read more here. It works both ways because if the award had been lower, you would not have to pay anything back.

We also got enhanced living and mobility after a paper based assessment. Doable.
