My DD has a diagnosis of ADHD and ASD. She’s now 24 and has barely worked apart from a very part time waitressing job. She successfully completed an Access course and is now on a 3 year degree course for Law and Criminology. Whilst I’m so very proud of her I do wonder if she will ever be able to hold down a job, certainly not as a Solicitor which she says she’d like to be. I’m not sure she completely understands what a Solicitor even does. She struggles with anxiety although the recent medication from the GP has helped enormously.
As her mum I’d be happy if she worked part time doing anything, something, I worry she is expecting too much of herself and will beat herself up if not achieved.
Has anyone gone through this? What did you do, how do I provide guidance when I’m unsure she will ever be able to work in this field?
