I'm at the end of my thether, my son is 19 and gone off to uni. He has ADHD & Aspergers. He can be very difficult. He takes medication for ADHD quite a high dose. I've just found out he isn't taking it at weekends, he says he feels more sociable without it. I know from experience its actually to do with him wanting to drink alcohol something his consultant warned against doing. He just won't see sense. He's been doing new things with people he has only just met which is great but he does things on impulse. I know he's been walking home 40min at 3-4am through a horrible city, he refuses to get a taxi. As for his work I dread to think. He did say he was only going there for the social life. He didn't get good A level results and basically the uni are accepting anyone to get the fees. It's not the situation I'm happy for him to be in but can do nothing about. He is easily lead and I'm worried people would take advantage of him and possibly his medication which is a controlled drug and in the wrong hands abused. Ive tried reasoning with him but he gets nasty with me, I just have to 'let' him get on with it don't I?
