She used to be an ok eater.

Then when she was 13 she became veggie which was fine. But she would eat fish.

Now she won’t eat fish because she can see the veins. She will occasionally eat dish fingers.

Her repertoire of vegetables is shrinking. She’d eat a lot originally, now we’re down to broccoli, beetroot, spinach, butter beans and black beans. She will eat lentils and chickpeas sometimes. She doesn’t like cheese.

She won’t eat anything that’s been frozen as she can ‘taste’ it.

On Monday we had stir fry. She picked out all the noodles and left everything else. Sunday dinner she only ate the Yorkshire puddings, despite eating it all 5 months ago.

If she’s hungry she just eats toast. And she is hungry because she won’t eat much protein. Eggs are about all she’ll eat.

Im not sure what to do, as l am seriously struggling. I don’t think she’s doing it to control food intake as she happily eats biscuits. She just only seems to like carbohydrates. And it’s been a gradual thing that’s crept up on us.

I can truly relate @ArseInTheCoOpWindow. DD is 15 and waiting for a diagnosis. Her eating and food has been stressing me out since she was one.

Things have changed though and I think it's me that's changed really.

I've got her in a lot of things I know she'll eat for breakfast like pain au chocolate, bel vita biscuits and instant porridge. Things I wouldn't want my DC eating every day but she's much better if she's eaten.

I also have got her in plenty of things she likes for lunch and she usually gets her own.

For tea, she helps to choose most most the evening meals but if she doesn't fancy it on the day, she can get something and still eat with us.

Now she's actually eating and taking a vitamin tablet when pushed, she's in a much better mood and there's no stress over mealtimes.

We're getting on better and now she's less stressed over food, she's actually relaxing and trying a few new foods.

God, it's been a long process with lots of trial and error though.

My dd is 12 and we are currently in the middle of a private assessment for diagnosis.
she currently eats no fruit of vegetables. She will have fresh orange justice but that is.
she mostly lives of buttery pasta, hash browns, wedges, chicken nuggets and stuff like that.
i have learnt not to push her to eat as this can’t stop her eating at all. I’d rather she filled herself up with carbs and have a multi vitamin than her not eat at all.
it’s so tough and heartbreaking to see them struggle with food.

Sorry lots of typos in that! We are on the back to school anxiety and meltdowns! Not getting much sleep 🥴

I feel the pain too. DDs eating has got progressively worse and the no-touching food etc more extreme. However, agree Nowmum43 they are even worse when hungry. Have to accept that pasta and a berocca is better than just chocolate

I started this thread and she’s still the same. No touching foods now which is new.

And the 3 days of 6th form that have been attended have been absolute hell.
