Medikinet - adhd and asd

DD (16) is on 4th week of Medikinet up to 40mg. She also has ASD so I think it is quite hard for her to articulate if she is noticing any improvements.
She had initial headaches but those seem to have stopped now.
She has said that she thought she'd been less impulsive and has felt more organised in her exams in the last two weeks but then that seems hit and miss too - some days she will do revision well for 2 hours other days she still struggles. Apart from being more focussed some days she doesn't seem a lot different, still has ups and downs, still complains a lot, still goes off on a tangent frequently during a conversation, but perhaps that's more the asd than the adhd.
It's just hard to know what to expect.
We're feeling quite overwhelmed by trying to decide how to guide her & what to do for the best, she very much relies on me to direct her and that's hard when I'm not her!!! If anyone has any experience or advice I'd be very grateful.

Hi Duvet, just wondering how your DD is going on Medikinet? My DS, 14, is on 30mg term time only. We've noticed a slight improvement in his behaviour but not hugely different at all. His dr is now suggesting that we switch to Concerta which is longer acting and I am in 2 minds

Hi @winterrabbit, shortly after that last post we tried her on Elvanse which she didn't like, she felt quite edgy on it and sweaty. So we didn't carry on with that for very long. We took a break for about a month before starting back on Medikinet and we reached 60mg, still no major changes I would say, but trying to get something established before she starts college. Maybe it's harder to tell when she's not in studying. She says she feels more alert occasionally but not always in a positive way! Also taking a while to get to sleep.

Overall we feel it has been quite a stressful process, the asd doesn't help, trying to figure out what things are side effects and what aren't.
I think I would have given up by now but just thought it's worth seeing the titration process through and then decide if she carries on or not, but at least then she has the option in the future!

That probably isn't that much help, sorry but feel free to ask anything else or PM. :-)
