My son was diagnosed with ADHD/ASD last year . He has high levels of anxiety which he is on medication for . His predicted GCSE results are all 3s which is causing quite a lot of anxiety in itself . I'd like to withdraw him from science as this subject causes the most stress , the school and senco say they can't because it's a core subject . Any advice ? I could just not send him on the day of the exams I suppose

The school aren’t going to allow DS to drop science, especially if he is getting 3’s. If DS doesn’t attend the exams he will still have to declare the U in later life.

Is DS getting any support at school, including access arrangements? And any MH support?

Actually they did !!
I got some advice from local autism charity , I requested reasonable adjustment based as a result of his disability and that it was in his best interest to withdraw , SENCO called me the next day to say it he been agreed .
And yes he is being supported with the anxiety

I am really surprised as science is a compulsory part of the curriculum at KS4 and DS was achieving a 3, so it would reduce their progress 8 score.
