Autistic Daughter?

I’m starting to wonder if my daughter is autistic? She is 21 and always been a quiet and anxious girl, but she dropped out of university last year after struggling in the pandemic. It was a quiet place in the countryside which I would have thought perfect for her. However now she cannot decide where else to apply for and seems to have trouble doing simple tasks or even socialising. She acts much like a clueless child would, talking happily about her favourite comic books or whatever she has become obsessed with, and gets frustrated to the point of crying when trying to explain how she is struggling. I don’t know how to help her. I know she wants to study as she loves to learn but it seems everything is too overwhelming for her.

Hi OP,
Sorry to hear your DD is struggling. Without knowing what difficulties she struggled with during the pandemic is can be hard to say, but would it be something she’d reconsider starting again. Perhaps with more support in place she’d do much better.
My DD is autistic and struggles with anything online so getting out twice a week at Uni is better for her (doesn’t catch buses though, hates them, finds it stressful). So it might be worth going through what those struggles are against the support that can be put in place. Hope this makes sense.
Would she consider being assessed for ASD?

Op, girls are very good at masking ASD and mostly go undiagnosed until they are older. Like pp said, would she be willing to be assessed?
