Home support for adults with Downs, is this a thing?

Sorry if this is the wrong topic. My friend has an adult DD with DS, she’s struggling but I don’t think wants her to move into accommodation altogether. Can you get support workers who come help in the home?

Yes, support at home is possible. Has your friend's DD had a social care assessment? (And potentially CHC funding assessment depending on needs.) And your friend a carer's assessment? If friends DD is younger than 25 does she have an EHCP?

Absolutely if you pay for them. Is her dd getting all the benefits she is entitled to? Is she?

Porcupineintherough Depending on income and whether eligible for CHC funding care isn’t always paid for.

Thank you for replies sorry I forgot to come back to thread. I will ask about the assessments. She is 28 so sounds unlikely to have an Ehcp though I don’t know what that is! I appreciate the help.

It's an Education and health care plan. Children and young people can pay for them and a child with Downes would definitely have one but I dont know what they'd have instead once over 25.

apply for one, not pay! Sorry

There’s not an equivalent to an EHCP for those 25 and over, but support can be secured via social care assessments for friend and friend’s DD, and maybe CHC funding depending on the needs of the DD.
