Private melatonin prescription for teen with ADHD?

DD (18) has ASD and ADHD and unusually bad problems with sleep schedule for her age. They come and go but at their worst they're quite disabling. CAHMS doctor agreed that melatonin might be worth trying but GP won't prescribe without advice from adult ADHD clinic for which the waiting list is 18 months.

Can anyone advise on how to go about getting private appointment to give it a try? I don't really know how to go about it.

You should ask for rereferral to the paediatrician if shes still under that as they are the ones who prescribe.
If no joy with that, i sometimes buy it on ebay and get it sent over from spain or poland

She's not under CAHMS any more, so she's on the NHS waiting list to start all over again with adult ADHD clinic.

I'm tempted to buy online tbh, but I'm not sure how to go about getting a reliable online supplier. In other circumstances I'd say sod it and just jump on a plane or ask a friend who happens to be travelling overseas.

A private psychiatrist recommended Biovea as a website to buy from (they said it would be cheaper than a private prescription). I have since read up on the potential issues of ordering online without a prescription and have reduced the dose for my (much younger) DC to the point where it is probably just a placebo.

Can you not contact CAHMS and ask them if they're able to prescribe.

Regular GPs are not allowed to prescribe it as it's not licensed for children. DS had his prescribed by his paediatrician, who then wrote to his GP for them to prescribe onwards.

My sister ordered melatonin gummy bears from Amazon, that were shipped from USA, each one had 1mg of melatonin.

Find a private psychiatrist. Show him the diagnosis of ADHD and he will give you a prescription. There are also paediatricians who specialises in nerodevelopmental issues and can also prescribe. It's will cost you but that is the fastest way likely
