Doubt that made any sense !
DC is 17... After a long road he is finally at college (HE prior)
It is all going well ...but ..when he comes home , well everything has to be released.
I was in the kitchen tonight, and the first thing he grabbed was a knife, while talking to me .
Just to toss and catch type thing ...but he did not realize what had picked up till he missed his catch and it it dropped right next to foot .
He did realize his mistake !

Should I just get a load of those juggling balls to always have available /scattered in the house for him ?
Or if anyone else has been through this ...what do you suggest ?
It happens all the time..just worse after college days .

Should say , knife was on side ...he did not go to the drawer to find it !
Thanks

We have round baskets of differently shaped fidgets scattered round the house. We find they need 'changing up' from time to time, or they lose their appeal

We have squeezy toys, clicky toys, and toys that rotate. This is the current favourite, but it changes www.toystoolsandtreasures.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=720

Thank you for replying so quickly!
His "thing" is definitely throw and catch.

I have bought him a squeezy thing in his stocking .
But a basket of stuff around the house is good with those things in.
Like the idea of alternating.

With his age ..how do I help him through this ?

A Rubix cube has worked brilliantly for ds2 (has not lost any of its appeal after eighteen months). ds1 recommends blue-tack for a very discrete fidgeter. He also regularly takes my parcel tape to do the throwing catching thing which is pretty harmless if still irritating when I want to use it and its not there.

@KittyBurrito

Ok throwing and catching. Skoosh balls are nice and tactile and these give a bit of variety ]]
Oh yes, they're fab.

Put a basket in arms reach of wherever your son spends time but might otherwise grab inappropriate things. Think: where does he use the TV, phone, wait for food, just hang out to chat?
