DS (14) was recently changed after 7 years on methyl to atomoxetine. It was in some ways amazing, happier, more confident, more consistent temperament, helpful, thoughtful. It’s lovely to see this side of him. But the academics are struggling, the impulse control is not there. He has had exclusions, isolations, another meeting with his year head tomorrow. None of it is overly aggressive it is silly teen behaviour, but it’s not good. Along with the academics dropping and in Y10, has anyone got a child on both meds. How does it differ, he was moody and angry at withdrawal on medikinet, but he was focused at school and managed to stay out of trouble. A balance is what we need ideally. Anyone been here and done this. It is a months wait for an appointment with the paed so I’ve sent a clear email to school about SEN support in the meantime. Historically he has had feck all support as the meds worked so well he was never in trouble 😏
