Teenage son - humiliating situation

My son of 14 has ASD, developmental delay and learning difficulties, attends a special school and is non verbal with anyone outside his immediate family. The other day, he drew some very obscene things (penises, swearwords) on a piece of paper and put it in a neighbour's garden. Naturally the neighbour (elderly woman) is very upset and annoyed. We spoke at length (conversations are difficult because I just get blank stares) and all he would say was 'I thought she woukd just throw it in the bin.' He really wasn't expecting consequences.

Anyone else had this? I am so annoyed and afraid. I just think I am in for years like this. I feel as if I have to walk and go everywhere with him to prevent him behaving inappropriately. I have very little family support and no outside support apart from school. His father and I are separated, and his solution was always to say 'a good hiding'. Naturally I never did - my son is impaired and that would be cruelty.

Not much advice other than his father is an idiot (no doubt why you are separated!) and your neighbour needs to get over herself.
SN kids do inappropriate things sometimes, just like all kids do, don’t sweat the small stuff Wine
