ADHD...Where do I go next?

My Adult DD has ADHD inattentive type. She was diagnosed middle of last year and has tried various medications both stimulants and non stimulants. To date none of them have helped and we’re waiting to hear back from the Psychologist.

In the meantime she’d love to get a job but I can’t see that happening. She applies, they ring...she doesn’t like talking on the telephone..or second scenario...they ring...she answers...they ask something she doesn’t or can’t answer...she panics...puts down the phone!

Sorry I’m rambling but there’s so much I need to get out... She’s got a CBT telephone appointment in just over a week and I’m worried how she’ll deal with that. Also she isn’t receiving any benefits/advice regards claiming or receiving additional help, as I’m not sure what order to do things. Some weeks she seems so together but other times I seriously wonder if she will ever work. An apprenticeship was considered but I don’t feel she’s at the right stage yet.

Has anyone any advice or has been through anything similar?
Thanks

My dd can't communicate over the phone, so it's important her prospective employers know that. It definitely is a case of can't, not won't or doesn't want to or prefers something else, it's part of her disability.
Was this investigated as part of her ADHD assessment? If so, refer to the report.
If not, try a private SaLT specifically for her communication needs.
Processing speed, executive function, language comprehension etc.

Re-organise her CBT to a practitioner who understands her needs and will communicate with her in a way she needs them to.

Is she declaring her disability on the application form? Do read up on this as it can work well or badly.

PIP is not means tested, do apply but read all the guides as it's a tortuous process.

Hopefully someone else will advise on other benefits.

Have a look online for forums for adults who have the same condition as her and see how they cope/do things. Additude mag is informative but Ive been told it's not brilliant for advice if you're in the UK.

Go and see what you can find Smile

@BlankTimes; Thank you so much for replying. It’s such a new situation for us all and I was feeling a bit overwhelmed last night. The DD is getting frustrated and wants to get things moving but then when she does speak with a professional only shares so much. My patience felt tested and just knowing others are going/gone through the same does give me some comfort that I’m not alone.
