We ar elooking to get a diagnosis but too scared to ask the doctors incase I am laughed at and they don't think I have symptoms. I also know the waiting list is very long for the NHS. Any advice?!

Make a case for yourself to take to the GP and ask for a referral to someone who specialises in diagnosing autism in women.
e.g. your score on the AQ test, things you struggle with that your peers don't, anything from childhood that would indicate your difficulties are of long-standing. any interventions you have to use just to manage day-to-day.

If you're at Uni, you could ask about the Disabled Students Allowance, they may have a quicker route to assessment but I'm not sure if there would be any costs to you for that.

If you decide to have a private diagnosis, choose to see someone who also diagnoses for the NHS, that way your diagnosis won't be challenged.
