ASD - Period Pants/Modibody

Hi there!

My DD (ASD) is 9 and is well and truly in the midst of puberty. Today CAMHS suggested trying ModiBody Period Pants for her, when she starts her periods. Has anyone tried these or anything similar at a cheaper price tag? Wondering about experiences?

A multipack of these are going to cost around £230 - we are looking at the seam free versions. We do receive DLA for her so this will cover the cost...but interested in everyone’s experiences pls or recommendations!

I bought period pants on amazon (yoyi fashion but it's pleanty of them), much cheaper than Modibody but without absorbent layer, mainly they are normal pants with a waterproof layer so to use with pads. I prefer this solution since changes can be more frequent and easy, wearing the same protection all day long is not healthy. Anyway usually we combo the period pants with overnight maxi, this can last for many hours without worries about leakages or odor, Modibody are not so much absorbent.
I don't know if there are seamless versions, that would not be a totally smooth solution due the pad, but for me and DDs it's still comfortable, much better feeling at ease than anxiety of something too small and possible leaks.

My DD has no additional needs but likes these. They vary vastly in price! We got some from cheeky wipes, these are her most absorbent but are a bit bulky (but no more than a big pad) we also have some cheaper ones from Sainsbury's which are ok, don't hold as much but fine for lighter days. She hates changing pads at school so often uses the period pants and a pad, then just removes the pad at lunchtime. I wouldn't go mad buying loads, get a few pairs of different brands and see what suits her, We may try modibodi next to see if they have the absorbency without the bulk. I put them on a short cool wash and they dry in the airing cupboard overnight

We use these Modibody with my daughter. What we do is she wears one with a pad and then takes the pad out during the day and the pants absorb the rest of the day. You can buy one to try and if she doesn't like it you can send it back for a refund. Although modibody have a teen model - the women's styles also come in very small sizes and I once bought a child's size 8 in the women's size for a friend's daughter.
