struggling with returning to school

Just that really 14 year old ds has ASD and ADHD attends specialist setting has an ECHP. He suffers with anxiety and masks quite well at school. Has not attended since March adamant he is not going back. Advice on how to deal with the situation please

I've only just seen this. Hope you are doing ok. My daughter was the same (13). We spent lots of times going for late night drives (she wouldn't leave the house) and gradually built up to driving to the school (at night), getting out the car, walking down the street, going into a shop with mask on. She went back to an induction day yesterday. She hated it, but she went.

I'm so pleased for your Dd and you that she managed her induction day.Thank you for answering sometimes it helps to know your not the only one. He isn't back till Thursday. I can see it building in him I'm drawing a fine line between distracting him and setting expectations. Doesn't help that everything will be different and he thrives on routine or that IF I get him there he'll mask ALL day and the fallout will be HUGE once home.

How are things going? My daughter has started school refusing after 2 days back

Ds refused after three days I can’t make him. Went for two hours today it was bliss to shop without worrying about him.

Sending hugs. Last week had a CAF meeting, two attendance officers turn up at the door, and a meeting with the safeguarding/attendance officer. I got her in today. I'm not confident about tomorrow xxx
