Sitting here in tears

I am sitting here right now crying.........................

My ASD DC, who has had many struggles and heartbreak, bullying, being ignored, being abandoned or used by 'friends', is going to university next week.

DC has always had an avid interest in 1 particular sport. Has done very well and excelled in it. DC has had friends who became friends due to their shared interests in this sport. There have been regular disagreements and friends have fallen out then made up again.

Today, 6 of these friends have clubbed together and given a gift of £50 voucher for DC to' 'buy some cool/ funky stuff for student flat''..............and I'm in tears because I still believed that most of DC's 'friendships' were superficial/ not honest...........and I'm SO BLOODY HAPPY that I'M WRONG !!!!

I'm WRONG Grin
I'M WRONG Grin

I'm so bloody HAPPY to be wrong GrinGrin

Yay! I love this story! Congratulations to your son for his perseverance and finding his way to a good group of friends...and it’s great that they fight sometimes but remain buddies. Good training for the conflict resolution skills he will need for relationships in the future. Best wishes to your son at university!

@ Juliette27

Thank you so much for your reply Smile
and thank you for your kind wishes Smile

I hope my little 'victory' has made you smile, and I hope it raises the spirits of anyone who is in a similar position, that everything we do for our DC DOES help and gives us all hope for a brighter future.

I very much hope things are going well for you too. x

That's lovely, I have a 16yo DS with ASD, life can be a rollercoaster so it's really nice to hear such a positive tale. Good luck to him for university Flowers

We suspect my 14 year old grandaughter who has ASD is buying friends by giving them her dinner money I am feeling so sad she will not talk to us about anything to do with school !! ( or anything else for that matter)
