DS is 13 and has ASD and learning difficulties.
His bedwetting has become worse over the last year, roughly dry about 4 days a fortnight.
We’ve been through the continence service procedures, desmomelt makes him emotional and aggressive and don’t work, so now waiting for an appointment with hospital Urology department at the moment.
We’re off on holiday soon and I can’t face 10 days of washing pj’s and bedding whilst away, so I’m thinking of disposable nappies or washable undies.
Any recommendations on brands or types of incontinence bed wear I should be looking at. Thanks

What have you tried? Approx what weight is your DS is is over or under 58KG??

Hi.
I got a few suggestions on the SN chat thread.
Tried the Huggies 8-15 Pull up and whilst they fit his waist, he was drenched in the morning but there was no wee in the pull up- must have squirted over the waist band.
Same for the adult nappy, medium size from Home Bargain.
Continence sent some pads, first lot were the wrong samples, then the second lot of samples have arrived and they’re huge,as in will come up around his stomach, so have saved them for when we go in Saturday.
Will be using the disposable bed mats too as can’t be doing with washing and drying the washable bed mat we already use.
Not sure how heavy he is, probably around stone but he’s very tall and slim.
We had to cancel the urology appointment which was sent as we’re away, so are back i the waiting list.

I was going to suggest dry bites but you've already tired them. You said the nappy was dry and his wee cane up over the band. Have you tried to ensure his bits are point down to ensure when he pees it goes into the pads?

There's also plastic pants which work in addition to nappies and ensure to prevent leaks. They might work for you! https://www.ageukincontinence.co.uk/incontinence-shop/washable-incontinence-products/incontinence-swimwear-and-waterproof-pants.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwvvj5BRDkARIsAGD9vlKXRRR0O3Vu6ijskdHBOqeWERPzgJM-cJIIAHGyT63Rseof4YD4sYaAgJJEALwwcB

Hi TeenMummy.
Thanks for those links, I’ll have a good look at them later.
His bits were in place when he put them on, but he’s very well developed and he is also a fiddler, so in the night I’m sure it’s been moved and poked out of the top Blush
We go on holiday in 2 days, so we’ll have to see how the samples I’ve got get on
He did really well when we limited his drinks before bed, but that didn’t last and we’re back to dry night, then wet, wet then dry etc

Bless him that makes it hard when his hands go wandering. Your most welcome. Also to try and prevent him from playing with the nappy and poking out the top have you tired www.marksandspencer.com/adaptive-pure-cotton-back-zip-sleepsuit-3-16-years-/p/clp60176679 They may not be ideal but can prevent the wandering hands under his PJs or on there own

Hi, again.
Those sleep suits are a good idea, but he is very tall for 13- he’s in age 15-16 for most things and I think the crotch would be uncomfortable- and he’s very fond of his parts at the moment 😉 so natural popping up and out would still happen.
I’m going to take his own duvet and our sheets, as well as all the disposable pads and mats, and luckily there is a free washing machine and dryer, so it will be just his our own bedding I will need to wash and dry. Fingers crossed he’ll have a few dry mornings.

Your welcome! I hope everything goes well and you have a dry night soon

TeenMummy · 07/09/2020 15:38

How have you gotten on OP?

SlipperySlope99 · 07/09/2020 16:14

Hi Teenmummy, thanks for asking.
Wet on the morning we set off, wet for 4 consecutive days and dry for 5 consecutive days.
None of the pads/nappies absorbed enough/any and I was washing our sheet and duvet cover and his pj’s, disposable bed mat was great though
Since we’ve been home he’s been mainly wet. But he’s been great about wearing the ‘paper underpants’ as we call them😃
