I’m just wondering because I’m struggling a bit.
Mine won’t do a thing unless there is a monetary gain as highly motivated by money.
For jobs such as kitchen / dishwasher if asked vomiting ensues as she says it’s sensory so she can’t do dirty jobs.
But I’m exhausted and don’t want to insist and cause issues (PDA) but equally I feel it’s a life skill so she can’t just do nothing and I don’t know how to approach

I get my guy who's 14 to tidy his room, empty his bin, take his dirty laundry downstairs, but I have to ptomise pocket money. He likes moping the floor, even though it takes ages to dry and hates doing dishes over sensory issues. But it is a constant issue to get him to do these things. Mu other 4 kids are nt are they were a pain in the nut as well at that age. I think it's just the teenage years are hard anyway and they seem very self centred.

Hi,
Our 14 yr old DS with ASD & ADHD walks the dog, peels veg, unloads dishwasher etc. However he has really enjoyed ( and done a really good job!) sweeping and cleaning a small room, cutting the grass and weeding an area of garden. I think this is because he likes to see the physical difference and it plays to his perfectionism, e.g no weeds left AT ALL! He can’t bear it if he misses one!
He can’t do well at tidying his room alone, I need to be with him to break it down into small tasks. I think it’s overwhelming as so much stuff everywhere🤣
However, he can sort through a drawer into keep/get rid etc. I would say try to play to her strengths, find jobs that she enjoys and gets satisfaction from.

DD 15 hoovers the stairs and hall. She will change her bedding with my help as she can’t do it on her own. She will amaze me some days/ nights by loading/ unloading the dishwasher without being asked. She also will randomly make me a cup of tea.

Nothing.

Setting the table, getting laundry from the washing line. Emptying the dishwasher. Nothing involving dirt or mess - so clean things only.
