Hair Washing

I could really do with some tips on how to encourage washing hair with shampoo.....my nearly 13 year old is struggling with personal hygiene and didn't like the way her hair looked (too fluffy) after hair washing last time. Now refuses to use shampoo and her hair is so greasy and desperately needs washing. Very anxious / sensory profile. Tried backing off, tried buying organic shampoos, tried getting someone else to wash. The hair needs to be washed ! Any ideas ?

Is dry shampoo an option? That might help reduce the grease a little bit.
Is it just the fluffiness she doesn't like, or is there a sensory thing with shampoo too?

Did you leave it to dry by itself or dry it with a hairdryer OP? I find mine looks smoother if I use a hairdryer.

Mind you, everybody's hair looks fluffy in lockdown. Mine has taken on a life of its own. Grin

Have you tried a solid shampoo bar rather than liquid?

If it is just the fluffiness that isn’t liked and not the sensory thing with shampoo, I would put shampoo in a conditioner bottle or maybe try a different shampoo.

Combined shampoo/conditioner?
