Anyone have experience with Intuniv?

Hello, our DS aged 15 was diagnosed with ADHD and mild Asperger's 2 years ago and has been on Ritalin since. His behaviour lately has deteriorated to the point where the school asked us to do something.

We took him back to his paediatrician yesterday, and he has increased his Ritalin but also added Intuniv to his medication schedule.

Does anybody have any experience of this? Good or Bad? Thanks.

Hi - I have. Daughter has similar diagnosis and on methylphenidate too. We tried Intuniv - it didn't work for her but like all meds, some suit, some don't. She didn't try it combined but I know that sometimes is prescribed. For her it didn't work as it effectively lowers the blood pressure slightly and she was very sluggish. It also didn't suit her mental health - made her feel very down. We titrated off fairly quickly. But we have since realise that she is super sensitive to meds (apparently there is a test you can get to check if you are actually genetically sensitive to medication) so factor that in. So for her, it really didn't work but I know for others it does. I remember her consultant saying that it was a real 50/50 / love or hate medication. I don't know if that helps. Do you think lockdown may be an influencing factor re behaviour ? Best of luck. Getting medication sorted is such a challenge.

Really effective medication. Starts on 1mg and increases to 2mg after 7 days. We found out child could not go up to 3mg due to stomach pain side effects. Did very well on the 2mg dose
