hi i'm 18, Autistic and am from the Wakefield area (Knottingley to be exact).
I'm big supporter of Rotherham United (#RUFC) in football and also Castleford Tigers in the Rugby (As i was born in Pontefract).
I've couple other conditions including Schittsmann's Diease (Kyhnosis) which is where your back is humped back instead of straight which Schittsmann's Diease restricting what i can and can't do at the moment (playing football included :(.
Also i've alot of question's about this e.g. Will family member's be able to stay overnight in hospital (LGI) and will someone be able to hold my hand if they have to take my blood's (Which me being scared and autistic, make's this impossible)
I'mat the stage where i'll have to re-do all the pre-op stuff again e.g Bloods, breathing test and also being sat in a noisy room (which i've no ear defenders.
But i've got to wait a lot longer now as the Cov-19 has put it all on hold.
On another topic (concerning Dominic Cummings) what do you think about him being able to go all the way to County Durham from Downing Street to see family member's and then travel to Barnard Castle to 'test his eyesight' before he went back to London?
Finally this HS2 shambles, which personally dont want to happen as it'll destroy live along with our wonderful wildlife!
Plus it's costing way more than expected which the Government AND HS2 Ltd predicted to be alot smaller than it's now predicted!

You, or your family, should speak to the consultant and if you have one your autism nurse. Once hospitals start to operate more normally again you may be able look around the ward where you will be and meet the staff.

I have had a look and Leeds Hospital website has a section on autism and hospital. It includes their hospital passport which may help you. It also has an email address and phone number for the team that support both adult and children across their hospitals. The link to it is here.

Staff should be able to find you somewhere quiet to wait, or give you the first appointment of the day. Someone will be able to hold your hand for bloods. It depends on the hospital, ward and staff whether someone will be able to stay overnight. It's possible but on adult wards it depends on each individual hospital or ward to make adjustments so you or someone else needs to discuss this prior to being admitted.

Can you get some more ear defenders or noise cancelling headphones?
