DS is in Y13 and seems to have a nice group of kids to hang out with at mainstream school. But he never sees anyone out of school. Everyone is planning back-packing trips this summer, he's asked a few people if he can join them, but they've all turned him down, so he has no one to go with. Half term was so hard for him, he was dying to get back to school to see people. He has an Aspergers diagnosis, and finds social interaction awkward, but still craves companionship with those his own age.
I'd like to find him some sort of social life, via a club or sport or hobby, just to give him something in his life beyond homework, but his interests are pretty academic. Any ideas how to help with this?
