My ASD son is living away at Uni. Has been struggling a bit generally but getting by - suffers from anxiety and is on low dose a-d's and also low dose quetiapine. This helps him get to sleep and is prescribed by a psychiatrist - so is getting plenty of sleep.

This year he is really struggling to get up in the mornings. - missing lectures etc and getting stressed because of it. He says he hits snooze in his sleep. Due to lack of organisation and assertiveness feels unable to do anything about it.

Just after any practical tips that work, or if maybe it is the meds that are causing a problem? As a back stop I have offered to phone in the morning but we would both rather have an independent solution!

Very old fashioned, but simply put the alarm clock on the other side of the room. If you have to get out of bed to silence the thing, you are much more likely to stay awake.
