my ds has dyspraxia/aspergers. currently about to sit his GCSEs but does precious little work though he is bright and manages to scrape through in his mocks with little revision. Is fearful of the next phase of life i.e college, so ignores it and will not say what he wants to study. looked at 2 colleges but he is completely non committal, don't know whether just to write in what I think course he might want or what...He's the size of a man with the maturity of a 13 yr old. what the hell do you do?

From experience, I would try to steer him towards something that he is good at, but won't expect him to plan and organise himself. So playing to his strengths definitely. And look for a place where he will be well supported.

Agree with above advice. Ds1 is hoping to go down the BTec route and study something land based (horticulture most probably) in our case this area seems to offer a lot more practical opportunities without quite so much academic and organisational pressure as conventional studies. He also likes the idea of being outside and having "calmer space"
